                                             FAQ

Should I order extra tile?

We recommend that you purchase at least 10% over the calculator estimate.  The reason is the calculator figures out the exact quantity needed as long as everything goes perfectly.  There could be changes, cuts not properly made or damage to tile in handling.  Reordering tile is costly to reship and that tile may vary from the original order.  Also, if a tile is damaged in the future, you will have a replacement on hand to correct the problem.

Are the tiles pre-sealed?

No.  Once your counters have been grouted and fully cured (about 3-4 days) they are then ready for sealing.  Sealing is a very simple process of wiping the sealer on and wiping it off before it dries.  A variety of sealers are available online or in most home improvement stores.

Do you ship outside the Salt Lake City area?

We encourage you to purchase from one of our certified ATS dealers as they become available.  In the mean time, we will ship to any area within the contiguousU.S.  Shipping costs vary considerably.  We are happy to quote those rates for you.

Can I be assured that the tiles for my project are the same as the sample?

If we send you a granite sample in advance, it is usually the same tile in your final order given a normal time sequence.  Because granite is a product of nature it can have variations.  Once your order is placed, we will send you a free sample tile from that group for your final approval.  Your approval is required prior to constructing your project.

Can tiles be set over an existing laminate countertop?

Yes, as long as you firmly attach a backer board such as Hardi Backer.  The backer board can be ¼” or 1/2” thick. Once the backer board is attached (using screws) to the laminate top, a thin set mortar can be used to attach the tiles.  Many home improvement stores carry Hardi Backer.  It usually comes in 3’x 5’ sheets.  You will have to take into consideration the thickness of your existing laminate counter, the backer board and thin set in order for ATS to apply the proper size edge tile.  See our diagram in the help section to assist you with this calculation.

Are there videos that can help me with my installation?

We are currently building a “library” of videos that will assist you every step of the way. Included will be videos demonstrating everything from mixing tile adhesive to installing an under mount sink.  Our instructional videos will not require a purchase.  They will be broken into short (1 minute or less) segments, addressing your specific need.  Our search engine within our website will quickly locate that video for your review.

I have an unusual angle in my countertop. How do I get a quote?

In our Help area you can view diagrams to assist you with your quote.  If you still are unsure, please contact us at infoartstone@gmail.com or locate your nearest associate to guide you through the process.

How do I find a dealer?

Simply drop us a line and include your zip code and a little bit of information about your project.  We will connect you with a dealer in your area.

I need help with my project.  Can ATS assist me?

Yes.  Our “Find Help” section is devoted to contractors in your area that will assist you with your project.   Each contractor will have a website explaining their services along with contact information.

Can I get a quote on other countertops such as solid surface or granite slab?

Yes.  With your completed layout emailed to yourself (doing this saves a copy in our database) and your permission, we will contact countertop fabricators on our preferred contractor database in your area and provide them your projects information.  You will be contacted by them with a quote on your project in a timely manner.

Is the dealer pricing the same as what is shown on your calculator?

Each dealer has the option to set their own pricing.  The online calculator shows MSRP (manufactures suggested retail price) which may be higher than dealer pricing.  ATS will connect you with a dealer in your area if available.  Otherwise, ATS can provide you with the materials you need to complete your project.
